I’ve been to Umami Sushi countless times, and every visit has been an absolute delight. My personal favorites are the Black Truffle Set (Set No. 1) and the Tornado Potato Chip – both are incredibly flavorful and showcase the chef's creativity and skill. The quality of the food here is consistently outstanding, and it’s clear that the team takes great pride in their work. What makes Umami even more special is its diverse menu. While it excels at Japanese cuisine, it also offers a variety of other dishes, such as Chinese-style meals and seafood soups, making it a fantastic choice for anyone looking to try something new. The versatility of their menu ensures there’s something for everyone, and every dish is prepared with the same level of care and attention to detail. I also want to give a special shoutout to one of the young male staff members. He’s exceptionally friendly and polite, always making the dining experience even more enjoyable. His attentive service really stands out and adds a warm touch to the meal. Another great perk is its convenient location just outside Surrey Central Station, making it super easy to get to. On top of that, I received a loyalty card during one of my visits, and I’m certain I’ll be back many more times to enjoy everything Umami Sushi has to offer. This place has definitely become one of my top favorites, and I can’t recommend it enough to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience!

I honestly picked this place because of location. I ordered their tan tan ramen because I want something spicy and I was blown away by how generous the chef is with the amount of meats in the soup. I think music can be better to match with the Japanese vibe.

This is a hidden gem for Ramen! The portions are huge, and the ramen was very flavourful. The presentation of food was spot on, and the service was friendly and not overbearing. It was a perfect spot for a quiet, low key dinner. Definitely one of the better Ramen spots in Surrey.

ad a wonderful experience at Umami Japanese Restaurant yesterday! The portions were generous, and the food was good. We tried the House Special Fried Rice and the Laksa Udon. Both dishes were excellent! The Laksa Udon was flavorful and ranks as my second favourite in surrey, compared to the laksa from Rice and Noodles, which still holds the top spot. However, the House Special Fried Rice here was nice and a big portion. I like it! We’re looking forward to trying more dishes from their menu over time. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for great food and hearty portions!

A rare gem unfortunately set in a seemingly unsafe area (always surrounded by homeless drug addicts) but in a high-traffic location--the Surrey Central Station public transport hub. Super authentic delicious foods from China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia...you name it, all cooked by a highly gifted and skilled Chinese chef, offering a wonderful blend of East Asian and Southeast Asian cuisines. Once you have tried the food here, I bet that you will find yourself coming back repeatedly with friends and family.

First time and because my son referred it. One of the few restaurants open on Christmas day and because my boys were craving ramen. Loved their chicken karaage and pork bbq skewers. The place was busy so service was tad slow but it was okay. The place was good, price was reasonable and food was yummy. We will surely be back :)

The young male server offered great hospitality service in a very kind demeanor. The appetizer portion of the chicken karaage was huge for the low price of 5.95. The ramen bowl could use some extra noodles to it. The soup for the 14. Pork Katsu Ramen hit just the right spot! It was also at the right price too! I almost drank the whole bowl. Hehe! Now i just need to figure out how to upload my food pictures.

So many options, generous portions and fair prices. More affordable than other restaurants especially for big families. I recommend their fried chicken wings, Hainanese chicken, and Kari lembu. Their Hainanese rice is so flavourful, can’t get enough. I’ve only ordered take out so I can’t rate the atmosphere or service.
